STEAM AGEING CHAMBER
ACCELERATED STEAM AGEING TARGET is described in MIL STD 833 D and ANSI J STD – 002/003 as:
"Before parts are tested for solderability, require that they be exposed to steam for 8 hours, at 93°C" (at sea level)"

3.3.1 Steam Ageing apparatus. Specimens to be steam aged shall be exposed to the saturated steam in a container constructed from borosilicate glass or stainless steel. The specimen holder shall be non-metallic and non reactive with moisture to prevent galvanic corrosion or holder degradation…. The steam temperature at the ageing level shall be maintained per the requirement of table 4."

"3.4.2 The ageing is intended for tin and tin/lead coatings only. All specimens identified as requiring steam ageing shall be subjected to accelerate ageing prior to solderability testing, by exposure of the surfaces to be tested to steam in the equipment specified in paragraph 3.1.1. The specimens shall be exposed to steam per table 4, for 8 hours +/- 15 minutes."

For this purpose, we have developed a special bending and forming tool providing the possibility to eliminate a selected raw of leads at various steps :
