SIR Testing

We test to IPC TM 650 2.6.3 et al. or client specific protocols.

The Surface Insulation Resistance (SIR) Test is used as a tool for incoming inspection, materials investigations and qualifications, quality conformance, prediction of long-term failure mechanisms, and as a predictive tool for estimated service life.

This test is used to characterize the printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing and electronics assembly process residues and their impact on reliability. It is usually performed on industry standard test board coupons containing patterns. The patterns are exposed to a high humidity environment which mobilizes any surface contaminates and reduces the insulation resistance of the test pattern.
